Conductas alimentarias de riesgo en profesionales de la nutrición: ¿Somos inmunes a lo que enseñamos?

Los profesionales de la nutrición suelen ser percibidos como referentes de salud, no solo por sus conocimientos técnicos, sino también por su papel como promotores de hábitos alimentarios saludables. No obstante, diversas investigaciones han documentado la presencia de conductas alimentarias de riesgo (CAR) y trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (TCA) en estudiantes y profesionales del área, situación que representa una contradicción significativa con su rol formativo y asistencial. Este fenómeno plantea interrogantes éticos y profesionales, ya que dichas conductas pueden afectar tanto la salud física y mental del nutricionista como la calidad del acompañamiento nutricional que ofrece. La presión social y académica por mantener una imagen corporal “ideal”, la sobreexposición a discursos estéticos normativos y la cultura del rendimiento profesional son factores que, en conjunto, pueden contribuir al desarrollo o mantenimiento de CAR. Además, existe un riesgo real de que estos patrones sean replicados involuntariamente en los pacientes, reforzando ideas restrictivas o poco saludables sobre la alimentación. Este artículo de perspectiva tiene como objetivo analizar las implicaciones personales, formativas y éticas de las CAR en profesionales de la nutrición. Asimismo, se propone reflexionar sobre la limitada respuesta institucional frente a esta problemática y la necesidad urgente de implementar estrategias preventivas desde la formación académica y el ámbito laboral. Finalmente, se destaca la importancia de promover el autocuidado, brindar apoyo psicológico y construir espacios seguros que favorezcan una práctica profesional más consciente, empática y coherente con los principios de la salud integral.
